Isuru Dasanayake (2nd year)
isuru AT ese.wustl.edu |
Isuru completed his undergraduate studies In Electrical and Electronic Engineering at University of Peredeniya, Sri Lanka in 2006. For his bachelor’s degree he worked on control systems and robotics while majoring communication engineering. Then he worked as an engineer at the leading telecommunication provider in Sri Lanka, the Sri Lanka Telecom. With his desire to continue higher studies he entered the Washington University in St. Louis in 2007. His Research interests are on large scale optimization problems and optimal control systems. He is currently working on implementing a feed back control system for Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy. |

Justin Ruths (3rd year)
jruths AT ese.wustl.edu |
Justin graduated from Rice University (Houston) with a BS in Physics and proceeded to get a MS from Columbia University (NYC) in Mechanical Engineering, where he discovered the field of systems science. Intrigued, Justin continued this interest to Washington University, where he is a doctoral student in the Systems Science program. Justin's research interests lie in complex dynamics, nonlinear control, and applying systems techniques to new, more qualitative areas - such as the social sciences. Currently, Justin works on topics in ensemble control, MRI pulse sequence design, control for earthquake dampening devices, and applying systems methods to global climate change. Born in Canada, raised in several states and abroad for 6 years in Indonesia, Justin has interests in the collaboration of art and engineering in the creation and design process. |

Juanyi Yu (3rd year)
juanyi.yu AT wustl.edu |
Juanyi got her Bachelor degree of Engineering from Information Engineering Department, the Chinese University of Hong Kong in 2006. During her second year of undergraduate study, she went to University of California, Berkeley through Summer Study Abroad Program. She is now a PhD student of Electrical and Systems Engineering in Washington University in St. Louis, supervised by Dr. Jr-Shin Li. She is also a McDonnell Fellow of McDonnell International Academy. Juanyi's research interests lie in system biology, i.e. applying existing control theory to biological field and modifying control methods to fit the biological field. She is now working on DNA and RNA computation. |
